Linking the dots
The integral role that catalysts of knowledge play in the Arab world is not always highlighted. In this talk, Yara will shed light on navigating practice and theory and her journey of linking young minds to the Arabic lettering and type lab that was brewing in AlMohtaraf design studio. She will also discuss her book on Nasri Khattar and the importance of archiving for future generations.

About Yara Khoury Nammour

Yara Khoury is a graphic designer and type designer. She is an assistant professor of graphic design at the American University of Beirut. Previously she worked at Al Mohtaraf, a multidisciplinary design house, for 20 years. Her research interests include Arabic typography, bilingual Arabic and Latin typography, type design and book design. She is the author of the book "Nasri Khattar: A Modernist Typotect.”
